I am almost 12 years old.
Almost all my molars are still in, and 1 of those vampire looking teeth (sorry, don't know the name) is still in.
Kids in my school have all their baby teeth out, and braces in too.
My best friend lost her molars when she was 9!!
Is this normal or will I have to get them all pulled or something like that :(
Not all of my baby teeth have fallen out?
It's ok that you haven't lost all of your baby teeth yet. You've got time before you'll have to start getting them pulled. Even if they do have to be pulled they'll put anaesthetic on it so it won't hurt. Believe me, you're lucky that you're not already in braces! Those aren't fun at all...
Oh, and the baby teeth that you have lost don't have any roots because they've been dissolved by your body in preparation for them to be pushed up and out of your mouth. It's the permanent teeth that have enamel roots (which you never want to see, because it means you've had to get a PERMANANT tooth pulled! Ouch!)
Reply:By now you probably should have lost all of your baby teeth, but everyone is different.
If your Dentist isn't worried, neither should you be.
Reply:it's ok. i'm 16 and i still have a baby tooth. I'll always have it because i was born without a permanent one behind it to push it out. The dentist says it's fine so its ok.
Reply:I was still losing baby teeth at 14...I wouldn't worry.
Reply:maybe you are a vampire LOL no I bet your a cutie pie actually
Have you ever heard of the saying if it is not broken don't try to fix it.
if that tooth is not bothering you just over look it and use it till it falls out on it's own I am 43 years old and I had three of my baby teeth in my bottom jaw till I was 14
Reply:My baby teeth NEVER fell out. I had them pulled when I was 13 (personally, I think for some of them, the dentist just wanted money, considering my permanent teeth weren't even coming in yet.
Well, unfortunately, if they don't start to get loose in the next 6-12 months, you'll probably have to get them all pulled. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt that much... (except that one time when the thing they drugged me with didn't work, that was utter hell, still purely the most painful experience in my life =D)
But don't worry, they usually drug you up pretty well. =D Just make sure you're actually drowsy when you're supposed to be or else it hasn't taken effect yet, I think that was my mistake...
But, in conclusion, if they don't talk about pulling them, they won't (yet). =D Although, those money-hungry dentists can sure change their minds quickly... maybe it's just the area I live in, who knows. Something has to pay for that office...
Anyway, I think if they start to get lose soon, they won't have to be pulled. I had a problem, mine didn't even get loose... I only had like 6 teeth come out naturally in my life. I think I'm at the count of 22 now. =D And out of that, only 4 of them hurt like hell (2 of them beyond hell), so no matter what, your odds are good, don't worry. =D
I wouldn't worry about the molars, they'll probably come out later. Also, if there's just 1 cuspid (vampire teeth) it's bound to get loose eventually. Just hope you don't have any permanent teeth pulled, those are the ones that really do hurt. But you won't have to worry about that for years, if ever...
Sorry about my horrible rant. =D
I really don't think you really have anything to worry about. Just make sure you wiggle the tooth if it gets loose (the sad thing is, I think that was another mistake of mine. I never did, they stayed loose for 8 months at a time and never came out... it actually matters...)
Reply:It's not that big of a deal, honestly. I was about 12ish when I was losing the last of my teeth, so it's not weird that you haven't lost all of yours yet. Just be patient, they'll come out!
Reply:My girlfriend is 33 and still has one baby tooth in her mouth. The permanent one never developed therefore never pushed the other one out. It doesn't matter but baby teeth do not have a long living nerve in them so it will eventually die. In the meantime you can keep it in there or have it pulled out get braces or a porcelain crown or a bridge or maybe even an implant.
Reply:12 is the "normal" age to lose your last baby tooth, but I've seen MANY kids who still have some until they are 15 or 16. Not a problem.
