I have very pronounced canine teeth (almost look like a vampire!). Is it possible to have them filed down?

I am also extremely dental-phobic, so any such work would have to be under sedation?

Yes they can be filed down, and it isnt painful. Its noisy and you get some vibration but nothing more. Why not try some hypnotherapy to help you be more relaxed about a dental visit;
Reply:No need to worry- dentistry is painless these days.
Reply:DONT panic about dentists, they are only trying to help you!! GO SEE ONE NOW!!!
Reply:I actually think that those teeth are sexy on a person.
Reply:yeah they can be filed down but i really dont think they need to be , least you dont have front goofy teeth.........do you?
Reply:It is possible to have them filed. There's no reason to sedate you and I highly doubt that any dentist would for this reason. X-rays will determine the need for a local anesthetic. If you're that frightened, first see your dentist for a consult to plan the procedure. At that time discuss your fears. Either your dentist or your doctor may prescribe a one time low dose sedative.
Reply:i doubt u would need sedation,it doesnt involve the root in any way,so no pain is involved.gosh,it takes about 2 minutes or less!i had 2 misaligned teeth, the dentist filed them in almost no time.u dont need novocaine either.go for it! its easy to fix, trust me!
Reply:WOOF WOOF.
Reply:na my sis got it done, she had the sharpest teeth i've ever seen (felt),was'nt fun when we were little and she used to bite me it was agony, mines are like it too,she went to the dentist and said she did'nt know why she worried so much about it,so yes you can get them filed down and with no pain too!!!
Reply:If they do not bother you and causing you no discomfort, then there is noo problem keeping them.

Though if you do not wish to have them this big, then the denstist will file them down for you. It will be a painless experience, though the sensation might be a bit weird and uncomfertable at first. I have had my canines filed down to look like normal teeth (Lack of teeth, long story) and it didnt hurt at all just felt weird! Please don't be afraid of dentists, they don't do anything to cause you any discomfort, so don't worry! Hope you are ok xXx
Reply:the only person who can help is a dentist I can understand your phobia I am aged 63 and about 10 years ago I had all my teeth removed and had dentures before then the last time I went to a dentist I was 14 and had a tooth removed under gas but I woke up halfway through and have been terrified of dentists ever since but my wife persuaded me to go, and modern dentistry has improved beyond belief, confide in a close friend and get them to go with you, believe me take the plunge you will not regret it
Reply:Yes you can, you can also have a crown my niece had hers done and they looked great
Reply:yes you can have them filed down and wont feel a thing so dont worry go get it done ,as you will be glad you have been.a lot dont do under sedation now but tell the dentist you dental phobic as i was the same and now i got my confidence with the dentist and it dont worry me,
Reply:Hi, yes your incisors can be manipulated quite easily, irregardless of your age. To have pronounced incisors leads me to believe overcrowding is probably your problem.Easily corrected.

Ps Orthodontic work is painless, possibly a molar or premolar may need to be extracted on top teeth to create space to bring teeth back,I'm sure you can pay to have these done under anasthetic very quickly but with modern dentistry and anastesia there's no need as these would not be painful.

If you're unhappy get the braces
Reply:You could have them slightly tapered at the ends to round them off but it might make your teeth sensitive. I would suggest leaving them alone as you will regret it. It wouldnt hurt.
Reply:Why should you bother, be original, it's a god send.
Reply:yes
